Russian Tea Cakes {Snowball Cookies}

Traditional Christmas cookies perfect for cookie exchanges!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup salted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400ºF.
  • In a large bowl, mix butter, 1/2 cup powdered sugar and vanilla together.
  • Stir in flour, nuts and salt until combined.
  • Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until set but not brown. Remove from cookie sheet.
  • Cool slightly then roll warm cookies in powdered sugar. Let cool on wire rack.
  • If desired, roll in powdered sugar again once cookies have cooled.
