Simple 3-Ingredient Bagel

This Simple 3-Ingredient Everything Bagel recipe is super simple to make, with no yeast required and is child and dietitian mom-approved!

2-ingredient bagel

Since my kids have been out of school since mid-March, we have almost exclusively been eating at home. Yes, that’s a LOT of cooking for mom (aka me), which as you might know is not my favorite thing to do.

However, it’s so much healthier and cost-effective to make your own food vs. carry out/restaurants/etc.

These are basically the two main reasons I cooked most meals at home before the pandemic and continue to do so now.

With that said, my kids loved getting their monthly bagels from their school for a PTO fundraiser.

Since they haven’t had those bagels in what it seems like forever, I thought we’d try to make them at home.

I’m so glad I tried this 3-ingredient bagel recipe!

2-ingredient bagel

I’ve seen a ton of different bloggers writing about a 2- or 3-ingredient bagel recipe so I thought I better give it a try.

Thankfully ours turned out great and I love that they are light in texture and made with Greek yogurt.

They are actually quite difficult to mess up and if you know anything about baking bread products, that can sometimes be quite challenging.

My youngest had a blast making them with me. He pretty much made the entire recipe with just a little guidance.

My desire is that the more my kids help in the kitchen, the more independent they will become with making meals, feeling confident cooking and baking.

Hopefully, this leads to the desire to try new foods! We’re working on that last one quite a bit with my youngest.

Dietitian’s Dish

Once in a while, I buy plain Greek yogurt when I see it on sale for baking or bagel recipes. I don’t buy it to eat plain (even with fruit, honey, etc. added) because I can’t handle the aftertaste.

When it comes to yogurt, I’ll stick with my higher sugar or sugar substitute Greek yogurt options with fruit added. Anyway, I now make this 3-ingredient bagel quite regularly because a) I love the taste b) I like that it’s lower calorie than store-bought bagels and c) no yeast required (aka quicker prep).

I’m not a big bread making fan with yeast, but I do love making quick breads like these:
