Anyone thrilled that it’s springtime?!?

Here in Michigan we are always holding our breath for the first really warm days of spring. And it actually happened last weekend when it reached the 80’s!

We have been enjoying the gorgeous weather to the max since we’ve moved to our forever home. Lake front living is absolutely amazing. Besides the kids enjoying the water every second they can, Dan and I are thrilled for our open water swimming practice. Now we can enjoy it any time we’d like.

This past weekend we pulled out our wetsuits and tested the waters for our first official open water swim in our new lake.

We both had a fantastic swim around half of our lake and reminisced how we used to practice swimming together pre-children. And are thrilled for our no-excuses lake access that we have to open water swim as much as we’d like.

With that said we are thrilled that our new neighbors are like-minded people. So much that our neighborhood puts on their own mini triathlon!

And if you’re anything like me, when you come out of hibernation and start exercising more frequently your nutrition typically starts improving.

One constant focus of mine is to work on staying hydrated, especially when I’m increasing my exercise. I recently discovered DASANI® Sparkling water to help change up my hydration choices. And it helps encourage me to drink more water.

DASANI has traditional flavors including lemon, berry, lime, raspberry lemonade, black cherry and tropical pineapple. And recently they have come out with some unique new flavors including strawberry guava, white peach and blood orange. If you struggle with drinking enough water like I do, check out these simple tips that will make it easier to stay hydrated.

TIPS FOR STAYING HYDRATED

  • Record how many ounces of water you are drinking a day. This may seem cumbersome but if you use the same reusable water bottle and refill it, you’ll know exactly how much you drink in a day. Knowing how much you’ve drank can be motivating to help you to continue to drink more.
  • Add some variety to your beverages! Water is the most simple way to stay hydrated, but if you get sick of drinking plain water all day, try sparkling water like DASANI that comes in a ton of different flavors.
  • Purchase a FUN reusable water bottle and bring it every where you go. You’re much more likely to drink more if you have a bottle in front of you. And that’s whether it be in your car or at your desk throughout the day. Seeing it will help remind you to drink more.
  • Be physically active! Being active throughout the day will help you to feel like drinking more naturally. However don’t wait until you’re thirsty to start drinking water.

And when it comes to being active, I always love to enjoy a delicious and nutritious snack after a good workout. I made these easy granola cups with Greek yogurt and fruit to enjoy after a hard run or swim workout.

I recently enjoyed them with the strawberry guava-flavored DASANI Sparkling water. It’s the perfect combination for a post-workout snack and re-hydration.

Now if only I could hide them a little better from my kids. I may be able to enjoy a few more DASANI’s before they are gone.

Totally kidding, I don’t hide food or drinks from my kids.

Okay I may have hidden chocolate ice cream from them a time or two, but who’s counting).

How fun to be able to hop outside and go for a swim! Also those cups look absolutely delicious, what a fun twist on yogurt & granola, and I bet they were perfect to go with the sparkling water. We'll definitely have to try them soon!

It is beyond a blast to have a huge "pool" in our backyard :) And yes the granola cups are a fun spin on traditional granola + yogurt.
