Candy Corn Fruit Parfaits

These Candy Corn Fruit Parfaits are an excellent want to get in the Halloween spirit. And this doesn’t include overdosing on sugar before Halloween actually arrives.

Now I want to start by saying I am NOT against kids eating Halloween candy at all.

But why not have your kids enjoy the spirit of Halloween not just centered around candy? The concept of these candy corn fruit parfaits has been around for years along with many variations of them.

I found the inspiration first from Family Fresh Meals using whipped cream for the topping and also love Skinny Taste’s recipe using heavy whipping cream, sugar, and Greek yogurt for the topping.

Regardless of how you make these, they are adorable healthy snacks that kids will love!

Mine sure did (along with my husband)!

Why I Like to Serve These Candy Corn Fruit Parfaits

Candy Corn Fruit Parfaits Halloween

Personally, I don’t freak out much about all the candy my kids will receive on Halloween.

  1. What I’m not a fan of are all the activities that involve candy that leads up to Halloween. I’m mainly thinking about school parties. That’s why when I have a chance to bring something to my child’s school party it most likely will be fruit or vegetables. Yet I still try to make the snack fun and tasty!
  2. And besides being healthy, they include only 3 ingredients. You can’t go wrong with that!

My Candy Strategy for My Kids

After holidays like Halloween that are centered around candy, I will put my kids’ candy on the kitchen counter and eventually in a cabinet.

They will ask for candy over the following week or so then forget about it. And thankfully my husband and I do too (for the most part).

I purposely do not leave it out on the counter for more than a day or two. Because personally, the “out of sight, out of mind” motto works great!

Dietitian’s Dish

I personally regulate how much my kids eat since they are still pretty young (5, 3 and 1 year old).

And I don’t want them to get physically ill (which has happened). But one day of eating a lot of candy is not going to harm their overall health.

It’s the daily sweets, juice drinks and other empty-calorie foods that add up to an unhealthy lifestyle. And this can lead to long-term health issues.

So let them eat candy…just not every day. And serve plenty of healthy meals and snacks like these Candy Corn Fruit Parfaits for a healthy balance.
