If you missed my giveaway post, check it out for a chance to win an awesome prize but hurry, the contest ends October 12!

In case you’re wondering, yes, I’m a registered dietitian who mostly blogs about healthy foods, BUT if you haven’t noticed I LOVE all things chocolate (hence the Chocolate part of my blog post) and I like to stress the importance of everything in moderation.

Personally, I have restricted myself from eating certain foods in my past, which is never fun and never lasts which is why I try to stress to my readers that everything fits…yes, even sugar and chocolate.

If you’re not a chocolate lover, don’t worry I’ll be back next week with healthier recipes!

This No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bars has quite the history. I have been making it since 1988. I’m not kidding.

We made it in our 3rd-grade class (I have no idea the reason) and obviously it was so delicious that I have been making it ever since!

Dietitian’s Dish

I’d be remiss if I didn’t have SOME sort of nutrition tips even with this ridiculously indulgent dessert.

I sure talk about “everything in moderation” quite a bit.

Well, what does that mean?

I like to think that every food can fit if you want it to. I make these bars about once a year (yet cookies almost weekly-eek!).

Here are a few tips on how to keep everything in moderation:

  • When making cookies: prepare the dough, refrigerate for a few hours, form into balls then place them in the freezer. Only take out a few at a time to bake to prevent eating too many cookies at a time (and try to not eat the raw dough…a serious problem I have!).
  • When making cakes or bars: eat a small piece or two and package up the rest to give away to neighbors, friends and family.
  • Plan ahead when attending or hosting parties: eat a smaller portion size at dinner if you’d like to enjoy dessert too.
  • Don’t buy sweets for an every day treat (even for your kids – they don’t need sweets daily either!).
