CoSchedule: A Useful Scheduler for Bloggers

Although I am far from an experienced blogger, I have tried quite a few things to get organized with blogging and this post will hopefully give you insight into how CoSchedule can help you become a more organized and efficient blogger.

I have always been a big fan of paper and pencil schedulers. Since high school when we were given planners and were required to use them for certain tasks, I have become accustomed to using paper planners. To this day, I still carry around a paper planner for blogging and personal life. With that being said, when I first started blogging I was also using my notes section on my phone, the calendar on my phone, an excel spreadsheet and my planner to keep things organized. That’s a bit much, don’t you think?

Now that is way too many places to keep track of tasks, and that’s besides the fact that it wasn’t time efficient. Since I discovered CoSchedule I have become much more efficient not only with scheduling my posts and seeing them all in one place but also saving time with scheduling social media (which is a BIG time consumer for me). Check out my review and highlights of why I use CoSchedule below.

I would suggest first checking out this quick two minute overview of how CoSchedule works. It’s a quick overview to help you get started.

Personally, I’ve been blogging for about a year and a half and have gotten much more efficient over time. Here are my favorite features of CoSchedule and why it saves me time!

Calendar is Embedded in WordPress

The CoSchedule calendar is embedded on the sidebar of your WordPress Dashboard, allowing quick access to what posts you have scheduled along with social media shares on Facebook (personal page), Facebook (business page), Twitter and LinkedIn.

Here’s a glimpse into what my calendar looks like. Of course after doing this review I can see that I need to add many more social media shares to my calendar. And the best part is that I can see what is being shared by day and time.

More recently CoSchedule also has added a “Best Time” feature. This means when you schedule a Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn post, you can choose a specific time and day you want it posted or click on “Best Time” and CoSchedule will post it when it believes is the best time for your posts to get traction.

Social Media Promotion Made Easy

At the bottom of each post that you’re drafting is a section where you can schedule all your social media sharing including specific dates and times. I will often schedule my shares for the day my post goes live and again a month later. What I need to do better is go back to my older posts and re-promote them using CoSchedule.

CoSchedule also has a Chrome extension that allows you to schedule anything around the web just by clicking the icon in your toolbar.

Email Reminders

I receive weekly emails showing what posts went live that week, how many shares are associated with each post, how many social shares I scheduled and total number of shares on social media I had from my audience. Here’s a snippet of what my emails look like. This is also a great reminder to add more posts to my social share promotion section – I need a constant reminder for this section which is why these emails help me out so much!
