Chicken Sausage Mozzarella Flatbread Pizza

This Chicken Sausage Mozzarella Flatbread Pizza is nutritious and so simple with only 5 minutes of prep needed!

It’s hard to admit as a dietitian, but pizza is probably my favorite food. Yup, I said PIZZA. Of course this doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy eating healthy, I absolutely do.  We typically order pizza about once a week, yes a dietitian food blogger who has 3 young children gets tired of cooking and enjoys takeout. But as a substitute, or in addition to carry out I try to create homemade pizza too. That’s the reason for this flatbread pizza creation.

This was a huge hit with the kids, even my most picky child. As soon as I was done photographing we split one together and she couldn’t stop asking for more that I had to make a few more pizzas for dinner that night! Absolutely a win-win for the kids.

Dietitian’s Dish

For this flat bread pizza I chose to use the MultiGrain with Flax Flatout® Bread. This flatbread contains only 100 calories and includes whole grains and protein. If you’re watching calories this flat bread is definitely the way to go. Just top it with veggies and protein and you’re good to go!

Chicken Sausage Mozzarella Flatbread Pizza

A simple and nutritious flat bread pizza!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Flatout® Flatbreads I used the MultiGrain with Flax Flatout® Bread
  • 2 mozzarella and spinach chicken sausages cooked and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup fresh spinach leaves
  • garlic powder
  • basil
  • olive oil

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Place flatbread on cookie sheet and spray (or brush) edges with olive oil. Sprinkle edges with garlic powder.
  • Top flatbread with pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, spinach, and sausage bites.
  • Sprinkle pizza with basil.
  • Bake for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
